Grill-Off Winners!



Congratulations to MAAEA for their participation in the AARW Cookout Fundraiser on Sunday, Aug 29! The competition was stiff, but MAAEA grill masters Paul Yoon and Sarah Chang did not disappoint with their winning dishes: Kalbi and Mexican Grilled Corn. Thank you to all who came out to support AARW!

Mexican Grilled
Corn (Elote) Recipe
Ingredients:
  • 12 ears of corn *
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 4 limes
  • cayenne pepper
  • red chili powder
  • paprika
  • 1 cup Cotija cheese or grated Parmesan cheese (was mixed together at Grill-Off).
*Corn used at Grill-Off was purchased fresh from Allandale Farm, 259 Allandale Rd, Brookline, MA. Great farm.

Preheat oven to 350 °F. Place corn in husks directly on the middle rack of the oven for 30 minutes. After corn has cooled, remove the silk and husks. Break ears in half.

While corn is baking, mix mayonnaise and sour cream in large bowl. Mince 2 garlic cloves and add to mixture. Add the juice from half of a lime and quarter the rest of the limes for garnish. Mix in cayenne pepper, chili powder, and paprika to taste.

Grill shucked corn, turning often on a hot grill until a roasted color and light char develops on all sides. Top with the sauce and crumbled cheese. Sprinkle on cayenne pepper and/or chili powder if desired. Serve with lime wedges.
