“Why Become an Asian American Educator?”
Objective: Recruit more APA teachers to the profession

Winter: Lunar New Year/Tet Dinner - Reach out to SE Asian members and populations
Spring: TAG Conference
Summer: BBQ

Objective: Spend quality time with quality people, provide mutual support, look at Data on APA student and educator numbers (to educate ourselves, and to prepare for the BASIC meeting.

-Complete Planning Event Objectives, etc. for Spring and Summer

The demographic data provides some of the urgency. According to James A. Banks and Cheryl A. McGee Banks in Multicultural Issues in Education: Issues and Perspectives (2007), although 4% of K-12 students in the United States are Asian/Pacific Islander, only 1% of teaching force is Asian/Pacific Islander.
